The Chancel Choir is the “flagship” of our Music Ministry. This choir is a non-auditioned group of singers who meet on Wednesday evenings (August through June) from 6:45 to 7:45 pm. The choir is comprised of people of all musical abilities. You don’t have to be a professional singer to sing with us!
The Chancel Choir leads Sunday morning music worship through hymns and anthems, with the anthems covering a wide variety of musical styles. In December, as part of Advent, the Chancel Choir annually presents its seasonal cantata. Other performances include Christmas caroling and Jasper’s “Sing With One Voice.”
The membership age for the Chancel Choir is Grade 9 in high school and above. You will find a wonderful sense of fun, frivolity, and fellowship in the Chancel Choir. The Chancel Choir is a unique and friendly, welcoming community that will embrace you and make you want to come back week after week to serve God through music.
(The Chancel Choir does not meet during the month of July. Regular rehearsals will resume on the first Wednesday of August, and providing service music on the following Sunday.)
The “Wesley Ringers” is our adult handbell choir. This ensemble is a non-auditioned group that meets on Monday afternoons (August through May) from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. The “Wesley Ringers” is comprised of people of all musical abilities, with members who have many years of “ringing” experience and others who are new to the handbells with little or no prior experience.
The “Wesley Ringers” present their musical offerings in Sunday morning music worship, with the music covering a wide variety of styles. The ensemble also performs at the annual FUMC “Sounds of Christmas.”
The membership age for the “Wesley Ringers” is Grade 9 of high school and above.
(The “Wesley Ringers” does not meet during the months of June and July. Regular rehearsals will resume on the second Monday of August.)
Rehearsals are about learning to read music and play the handchimes. The rehearsal time is followed by snacks and recreation. Church-provided transportation picks children up from Few Primary, Parnell Elementary, and Jasper Jr. High after school and takes them to the church. (A completed registration form must be on file in the church office. Forms are available in the office.)
This ensemble plays several times each year during Sunday worship services and also at special events such as “Feast of the Harvest” and “Sounds of Christmas.”
(The “Amazing Graces” does not meet during the months of June, July, and August. Regular rehearsals will resume on Thursday September 6, 2018.)
“Sonshine Singers” is our children’s choir program. Our children’s choir meets Wednesdays after school to teach children to use their voices, as well as instruments, to praise God. Church vans pick children up from Few Primary and Parnell Elementary and deliver them to the church for devotionals, singing, and even crafts. The children sing at worship services throughout the year. (A completed registration form must be on file in the church office. “Sonshine Singers” forms are available in the office or can be downloaded here.)
